If you’ve
visited our website lately, you know we’re blogging! We’re
writers and editors, and frankly the need to write is as addictive
as any controlled substance. The beauty of our blog and any other
blog is that it’s not controlled. We say what we think,
from the profound (at least we like to think so) to the amusing (we’re
probably delusional here, too) and welcome you to agree or disagree.
Recently we compared today’s Bridezillas
to Madame Bovary, trashed
the people trashing romance fiction, and presented a short
history on romance comics. We also had fun listing all the euphemisms
we could think of for making
love. Another occasional feature that will appear in our blog
is an insider’s look at how we create our stories.
We hope to coerce
our writers and artists to blog along with us, and let readers in
on those spirited discussions. In that vein, let me leave you with
some observations from a blog entry entitled Things
I have learned working at Arrow Publications: “When
working together with old crushes after hurricanes, clothing tends
to fall off easily.” And so it goes in the exciting world
of graphic romance stories that is MyRomanceStory.com! By the way,
drop me an e-mail at arrow_info@arrowpub.com
if you know which of our stories this describes and I’ll send
you a MyRomanceStory letter opener.
Sincerely,
T.K. King

The multi-talented

His comic strips would later win him the National Contest of Humor Gráfico.
He continued working in advertising and comics throughout the 1980s and
1990s in Paraguay and Brazil.
In 1984, Goiriz co-founded
the underground magazine, El Raudal. Produced under what was
at the time an oppressive government, the magazine featured art, music,
and literature in an effort to resist the dictatorship. According to Goiriz,
the government had an open hostility to art and culture and considered
it a threat to its power.
“The humble
purpose of El Raudal was to have a channel for true freedom
of speech where we could do things that were impossible to carry out in
other media,” Goiriz explains.
Today, Goiriz is director
of Imagen & Cia, an advertising
and graphic design company that creates communication strategies and develops
advertising campaigns for print, radio, and television. Last August, he
organized the third edition of “Chaké!,” an exhibition
of comics and graphic humor held in Paraguay, attracting artists from
around the world. There, Goiriz showcased his new comic Warrior-M.
