MyRomanceStory.com Talks Web Two [Dot] Zero
Social media the new kid on the block

Tweet Me. Facebook Me. Digg Me. What? Okay, are you confused? Don’t be—you’re a part of the Web Two [Dot] Zero wave.

Three young people at a computerSo, we wake up one day and the world of publishing, marketing and communication has been turned inside out. Social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and Digg have their own language and make headlines daily. And for those who may’ve been asleep at the controls (okay NOT), social media is the next generation of new media deemed—Web Two [Dot] Zero.

Social media is the new way of communicating and marketing by using the net and web-based applications to reach targeted end-users. Instead of the traditional broadcast monologues of one person to many, social media conversations are many to many—meaning any messages sent to a user’s friend, fan or follower lists (Facebook and Twitter lingo) will go to the lists of those who are on the user’s lists too. How cool is that?!

“Getting the word out about your product, thoughts and opinions has been taken to a new level”, said Valencia Wood, MyRomanceStory’s Director of Media Development.

Social media isn’t the throwback marketing model reused, repackaged and repurposed—but a fresh and innovative medium that has leveled the playing field in publishing, marketing and the way we convey content.

Twitter LogoSites like Twitter, Facebook and Digg have allowed independent publishers to market their titles directly to the end users without the expensive marketing campaigns used by traditional publishers.

Likewise budding writers, who may’ve have otherwise gone unnoticed, publish their works without relying on large traditional publishing houses to sign them or the aggravation and frustration of chasing down an agent to check the status of their submissions. These fresh writers now publish their content in their formats of choice and set-up their own media pages to sell to and interact with their fans.

Girl at computerWith the quickness of a high-speed commuter train, social media applications and trends are spawning new writers, creative marketing strategies and innovative ways to speak to audiences.

To sort all of this out, MyRomanceStory.com introduces its series on social networking. Each article will explore the latest social media trends and the best way to use them.
