I'm really excited and looking forward to my weekend stay. I can't wait
to use the spa products ... they smell so tantalizing. Brown has never
been to New York, and says she is looking forward to the adventure. An avid
people watcher, she thinks she'll find some interesting subjects
in the city, and is especially looking forward to seeing the Statue of Liberty
and Rockefeller Center. New York should be a quite a change for Brown, whose
hometown of Delavan, WI has a population of just 8,000 people! Thank-you
to the sponsors who donated prizes and to all who helped make this so pleasant,"
she said. Happy reading!

Week 9
Louis Huffmire Anaheim, CA | Louis Huffmire is from Anaheim, CA, an area famous for its theme parks, sport teams and convention center. Since 1955, Anaheim has been the home of Disneyland Resorts. It is also the home of Angel Stadium, Honda Center and Anaheim Convention Center. It takes its name from the Santa Ana River and the German word “heim,” which means home. Huffmire, the married mother of two, describes herself as the girl next store. Right now she’s a stay at home mom whose youngest is only three weeks old. She tells us she went to school in Southern California.
When asked about her favorite MyRomanceStory.com story, Huffmire picked one of our Real Life Romance Stories, entitled, “The Love of My Life,” by Rebecca. If you haven’t read it, it’s worth taking a few minutes out of a busy day to enjoy a true-life story of romance. It’s about a young woman who wanted the man she loved to know that because she’d had a kidney transplant she might not be able to do all the same things as a “normal person”. I won’t spoil the ending for you.
Huffmire has two MyRomanceStory novellas to thank for qualifying for her win. She correctly answered questions about “Master of Fusion,” written by Deborah Davis and illustrated by Italo Ahumada and “Love in Site,” written by Jonni Bantz and illustrated by Ronn Sutton.
We also learned that Huffmire is a Taurus and she is not the first Taurus in our winner’s circle. If you read down our list of winners you’ll find several more. We think it’s because a Taurus is tenacious. According to “Discover Your Romance Signs,” the Taurus woman never acts impulsively. She pursues her goals in a direct line from where she is to where she wants to be. With one cautious step in front of the other, she never wavers. So if she sees a contest, she’s going to try to win it.
Huffmire’s favorite color is night blue, aka, midnight blue. It was originally called Prussian blue, but the name was changed in 1958 in response to teachers’ requests. According to Crayola, a person who likes this shade of blue is confident and secure. They also say that in the southeastern and southwestern United States, that blue is considered a protective color. That’s why doors are painted this color to ward off evil spirits.
Finally we learned that one of Huffmire’s favorite things to do on a night-out is rewind and have fun. We’re not sure how many nights out she’d had lately with a newborn. Her favorite thing to do on a night-in is have fun with friends who come over. She tells us she heard about the “Ladies’ Night In” contest from a friend and that she’s won a few things like free coupons and some gift cards in the past.

Week 8
Douglas Greenwood East Meadow, NY | Douglas Greenwood lives in East Meadow, a hamlet in Nassau County, NY. Nassau County is one of four counties that make up Long Island. According to Newsday.com the hamlet’s name is descriptive of its location: the portion of the Hempstead Plains east of the Meadow Brook. It’s the birthplace of basketball hall of famer Julius Erving and the one-time home of U.S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. This week’s lucky winner is a retired police captain from the New York Police Department. He’s a single guy who says he’s never been married. He’s secure enough to tell us, “Yeah, I like romance novels. I read a lot but I can't say I have a favorite.” He did tell us that his favorite author is Sidney Sheldon and adds, “May he rest in peace.” According to SidneySheldon.com Greenwood’s favorite—and given the number of books he sold, many people’s favorite author—was the winner of an Oscar, a Tony, and an Edgar Allan Poe Award. He wrote over 200 television scripts, twenty-five major motion pictures, six Broadway plays, eighteen novels (which have sold over 300 million copies) and one memoir. This ranks him as one of the world's most prolific writers.
Greenwood is a man of few words, but a very appreciative winner. He told us while he doesn’t think he’s ever won anything before he still considers himself a lucky guy. He adds, “Thanks so much--you've made my day!” Giving a prize to a nice guy like Greenwood makes our day.

Week 7
David Steyert Stewartstown, PA | David Steyert comes from Stewartstown, a small town in York County, PA, near the Maryland-Pennsylvania border. At one time both states claimed this area and the dispute was only settled by the surveying of the Mason-Dixon Line. David, the married father of one son, describes himself as an old-fashioned middle-aged man. He graduated from Towson University in the Baltimore, MD area and is a manufacturer of nurse scrubs. Towson University, the second-largest public university in Maryland, is also the state’s largest producer of teachers.
We asked Steyert about his favorite MyRomanceStory novella, but he said he really he couldn’t pick just one. He mentioned a favorite romantic-suspense novel “Secrets of His Own” by Amanda Stevens. The novel, which was reviewed on MyRomanceStory.com’s Book Reviews section, takes place on a remote and dangerous island off the Florida coast.
We learned that Steyert’s favorite color is brown, which is an earthy and dependable color. Crayola lists eleven hues of brown from beaver to tumbleweed. Steyert is a Capricorn, a sign described as traditional, wise, dependable and honest. Konstantin Lucas adds that not only are Capricorns patient, but they are the type of person that doesn’t just hook up new TV, they actually read the manual first. They probably spent hours reading product reviews and shopping for the best price and features before pulling out their credit card, too.
A favorite thing to do on a night-out for Steyert is a sporting event. He didn’t say if he gets a chance to go back and watch any of the Towson Tiger’s games. On a night-in he likes to kick back with a good book. He heard about the “Ladies’ Night In” contest from friends. He also tells us that he once won a trip to New York City. If he wins our grand prize he’ll find himself staying at The Kimberly in Manhattan this time.

Week 6
Vicky Molina stroudsburg, PA | Vicki Molina, along with her husband and two children, lives in Stroudsburg, PA, a borough in Monroe County, PA in the Pocono Mountains region of the state. The Poconos are a popular outdoor recreation destination for vacationers from the northeast, especially from New York City and Philadelphia. G.E. Smith, the lead guitarist in the band Hall and Oates and the musical director of Saturday Night Live from 1985–1995, was born in Stroudsburg. Molina describes herself as a patient stay-at-home mom. She tells us that it too hard to pick a favorite among the MyRomanceStory.com novellas since she enjoys them all. She answered questions correctly on “Summer Love” written by Liana Metal and illustrated by Ronn Sutton and “Disaster Relief” written by James Watson and illustrated by Atlantis Studios to qualify for the weekly drawing.
Molina tells us her favorite color is blue. The color is used to describe water, sky, cold and sadness. We’re sure Molina wasn’t feeling blue when she heard her name was picked in our weekly drawing. We’re glad she’s a true blue fan of our site. Her astrology sign is Taurus, who are often said to be stubborn like a bull. However, our Konstantin Lucas has another take on this sign. He says, “Wherever the Taurus woman is going, the route is well charted on the map. There is a destination, and without a hint of deviation, she’s going to get there according to plan.” Just sounds like someone who knows what they want.
Sounds like Molina knows what she wants, too. For her a favorite night-out includes dinner and a play. Her favorite thing to do on a night-in is read. We hope she enjoys the book that will be included in her prize package. Molina heard about the “Ladies’ Night In” contest from a friend. She tells us this is the first time she’s ever won something.

Week 5
Holly Hindsley Frankfort, IN | Holly Hindsley lives in Frankfort, IN, which according to the 2000 U.S. census had a population of 16,662. We learned by visiting City of Frankfort Online that it is a warm and caring city with friendly citizens. It is also the birthplace of actor Will Geer who played Grandpa on the popular 1970’s drama “The Waltons”. Frankfort is also about an hour outside Indianapolis, IN. Not surprising Hindsley, who is single, describes herself as helpful and caring. Both of which are admirable traits in a city and a person. She tells us her favorite MyRomanceStory novella is “Collision Course” written by Michelle Vawn and illustrated by Kike Olmedo. In that story, Tasha Mills collides with business executive Walker Hayes when she tries to save a beloved writers' festival from losing it’s funding. So sometimes being altruistic can lead to true love.
Hindsley’s favorite color is purple and her astrology sign is Capricorn. According to the folks at Crayola, people who like purple are majestic, magical, visionary and intuitive. Purple was included to Crayola’s first box crayons in 1903. From the “Sensual Zodiac” we learn that Capricorns are the model of efficiency and planning. No problem catches the Capricorn woman by surprise. Reinforces that purple loving visionary-intuitive thing!
When asked about her favorite thing to do on a night-out, Hindsley said, “I enjoy the company I’m with. That’s my favorite thing.” On a fun night-in, she likes to relax and watch movies. She heard about the “Ladies’ Night In” contest from an e-mail that she received. Although this is not the first time she’s won anything, she looks forward to receiving her survival kit with all the goodies including a book from Lori Avocato, Frankie Y. Bailey or Patrick Sanchez and Joyful Girl Natural Products.

Week 4
Kendal Dobrowolsky Tallahassee, FL | Kendal Dobrowolsky comes from the Florida state capital of Tallahassee. Florida is known as the sunshine state, but it is also the state with the highest average precipitation. Whether it’s sunny or rainy, Florida is a popular place to live with the fourth highest state population in the United States. That population includes this week’s winner.
Dobrowolsky tells us that she’s been in a relationship of a few years, but doesn’t have any children. She describes herself as a whimsical spirit who enjoys friends and activities. When we asked her about her favorite MyRomanceStory.com novella she replied, “I find that I love too many stories and books to keep favorites. I tend to like stories with a strong heroine.” The two novella’s that lead to Dobrowolsky’s win were “Helen’s Alibi” written by Jennifer Savage and illustrated by Gonzalo Martinez and “Collision Course” written by Michelle Vawn and illustrated by Kike Olmedo. These novellas’ heroines, Helen Carver and Tasha Mills, are strong, independent women.
Dobrowolsky tells us her favorite color is black because it goes with everything. In terms of fashion and style, Marcia Horn, author of “Gotta Get It!” would agree. She’d also tell us the little black dress or LBD was made popular by Coco Channel in the 1920s.
We learned that Dobrowolsky is a Taurus. Regular readers of “Discover Your Romance Signs,” will know that the Taurus woman pursues her goals in a direct line from where she is to where she wants to be. It’s drive like that, which puts you in the “Ladies’ Night In” winners’ circle.
Dobrowolsky says one of her favorite thing to do on a night-out is to hang out with her girls at the club. On a night-in she loves to bake or make fun edibles. She has her mom to thank for telling her about the MyRomanceStory.com site and the contest. Before this win she says she’s only won a few things in school.

Week 3
Cheryl Russell Riverside, CA | Cheryl Russell is from Riverside, CA whose nickname is City of Trees. Money Magazine called it one of the best places to retire. Another interesting fact about the Riverside is that the first golf course and polo field in Southern California were built in there. Russell, who has been married for four years, describes herself as a friendly, compassionate woman.
Russell's favorite MyRomanceStory.com novella is the “Beaufort Ghost” written by Nazalie Austin and illustrated by John and Jason Waltrip. We learned that Russell’s favorite color is green. As you’ll remember from pre-school, you make green when you smear blue finger paint with yellow finger paint. It’s what’s called an additive primary color. We associate the color green with money, but also with being environmentally responsible. But it doesn’t have to be St. Patrick’s Day and you don’t need to be a rich environmentalist to love green.
Russell’s astrology sign is Scorpio, so if you read our “Discovering Your Romance Signs” column you’ll know that those born under this sign are emotional, powerful, and complicated creatures. They bring an intense focus to all their undertakings. They are also fiercely loyal and expect the same loyalty from those they care about.
One of the things Russell likes to do on a fun night-out is go to dinner. Riverside is known through out the Inland Empire region of Southern California as a dining destination. On a fun night-in, Russell rents a movie. Luckily for her one of her friend told her about the “Ladies’ Night In” contest. Being a loyal Scorpio, she’ll likely share the goodies from her survival kit with this friend. |
Week 2
Israel Yeres New York, NY | Israel Yeres lives in New York City, NY with her husband of nearly two years. She describes herself as a quiet person who enjoys reading and going to museums. NYC is one of the perfect spots for someone with those interests. The New York Public Library’s collections rank along side those of the British Library, the Library of Congress, and the Bibliothčque nationale de France. The city is also renowned for its museums: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Guggenheim Museum, The American Museum of the Moving Image and the Museum of Modern Art. There is also the popular American Museum of Natural History that inspired the Ben Stiller movie Night at the Museum. You could easily spend a night, a day or a month at any of these museums and not see everything.
Yeres includes among her favorite MyRomanceStory.com novellas, Picture Perfect and Wild Sargasso, the two stories she read to qualify for the weekly drawing. She tells us her favorite color is green. The folks at Crayola describe this color’s personality as cool, crisp, fresh and close to nature.
Yeres is a Capricorn, who according to Konstantin Lucas, author of The Sensual Zodiac, are level headed and act incisively. This sign is the model of efficiency and planning. For Capricorns, this usually translates into a life of success. Yeres was certainly successful with our contest. If she wins our Grand Prize she’ll see a little more green in her future.
Living in New York there must be wonderful things to do for a night-out. Yeres tells us one of her favorite things to do is see a Broadway play. On a fun night-in you’ll find her relaxing and watching TV. She heard about the “Ladies’ Night-In” contest from a friend. She can't wait to receive her prize package and she's promised to continue to visit MyRomanceStory.com

Week 1
Ruth Bousquet Winchester, VA | We are pleased to welcome Ruth Bousquet back to our winner’s circle. Bousquet was the Grand Prize winner of the first round of the “Ladies’ Night In” contest and continues to be a daily participate. When told of her win, Bousquet responded, “How exciting to be selected again. I can't wait to see what you send this time. It's always special and unique.” We asked her if she had any advice for other participates and she replied, “I am just lucky by nature, so as far as strategy goes, I just keep at it. Last summer while at the beach I found a dollar in the water. How's that for luck?”
If you read our previous mini-bio of Bousquet, you know that she and her husband Marcel are the proud parents of three sons, two of which are servicing in the military. This time around we asked her to tell us about her boys.
“Our oldest son has been in Iraq as Chief of the Command Post for the past four months and will be returning home shortly. We are hoping to visit with him before he returns to his home in Hawaii.” Her son told her that it has been a privilege to serve our country and the experience in Iraq was good. Bousquet adds, “God bless our troops.”
Bousquet’s youngest son recently returned from his deployment in Iraq and is now stationed in North Carolina. She tells us that while at Whidbey Island, WA her son was Marine of the Year for 2005. Her third son lives near them in Virginia where he runs his own construction company and works as a superintendent for a construction firm that builds schools and hospitals.
As Bousquet said herself, “Way too fun for this lucky girl!”
