Gotta Get It!
Does your SUIT suit you?
by Marcia Horn
Brights, stripes and polka dots are all the rave at the beaches and poolside parties this season. Just make sure that wherever you are, your SUIT suits YOU.
Swimsuit season means time to get out the spray tan and the nail polish. It’s very important to use care when choosing appropriate beach/pool wear. First rule of thumb: match skin tone to suit color. Black and white bikinis look better on darker skin, so if you tend to look a little on the pale side during the first days of the season, leave that suit until after you’ve achieved a good base tan. Second rule of thumb: be sure your suit SUITS YOU. Pay attention to body composition when choosing a swimsuit for your body type. Whether small, medium, large or extra large, there is an appropriate suit for everyone! See this season’s latest styles and hottest picks!

VIX – CUTE in Green polka dot print.
How Much: $51/each piece
Buy it At: VixSwimwear.com Beaches are a great place to break out those bright colors and get noticed on the sand. With not much material to get noticed in, it is key that the patterns work for your shape and draw attention to the right places. Blessed with a C-cup top? You may want to feature that! Love handles a little too much for you to handle? Bikinis that tie on the sides are super forgiving, because they can be adjusted to your size and won’t create bulge like a fitted bottom would. The same slimming effect is created with a high-cut leg, and better yet, the VIX brand is famous for using forgiving elastic that can’t squeeze you in the wrong way—worth every penny.

Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy® Polka dot balconet top with ultra-high-waist bottom
How Much: $59.00
Buy it At: VictoriasSecret.com This vintage halter and high-waist style features a retro polka dot print, which is a great balance of dark and light. It will look best with a tan, so be sure to get some rays before hitting the sand in this beauty.
It’s okay to spend a lot on a good swimsuit, for remember, this thing has to keep you looking good ALL summer long, and sitting on the edge of the pool or swimming in salt water can damage flimsy material. That is why the craftsmanship is so important when buying a suit—check for extra thick lining and reinforced seams. Most importantly, make sure you are in a suit that makes you feel confident, so no matter who you meet or what you get into this summer, you will feel good about how you look while you’re at it.
